History

The Walch estate at Tramin dates to 1869, but its modern identity was forged by Elena Walch, a trained architect who married into the family and, from the mid-1980s, became a pioneer of terroir-focused, single-vineyard winemaking in South Tyrol, launching her own label in 1988. The estate is a benchmark for Alto Adige whites, above all the Gewürztraminer from the Kastelaz cru in the grape's home village of Tramin. It is now run by her daughters Julia and Karoline.
