History
Michele Satta is the champion of a more Mediterranean, Italian face of Bolgheri. Arriving in 1974 and founding his estate around 1983, he became a founding member of the DOC and pushed to have native Sangiovese admitted to the appellation rules. His Bolgheri Superiore Piastraia and the pure-Sangiovese Cavaliere show a distinctive, less Bordeaux-bound style of the Tuscan coast.
