The Ricasoli family have made wine at Brolio since 1141, and Bettino Ricasoli set down the modern formula for Chianti in 1872.

From about 240 hectares around the Castello di Brolio they make the Chianti Classico, including the Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio and the cru Colledila.
