Riso di Grumolo delle Abbadesse
Grumolo delle Abbadesse Rice

Rice has been grown at Grumolo delle Abbadesse, halfway between Vicenza and Padua, since the 16th century, brought in by the nuns of the Benedictine abbey of San Pietro di Vicenza. It marked the place: Venetian nobles built fine villas here to keep an eye on their land. The rice is Vialone Nano, medium-small in the grain, and the soil and the water make it very good. The crop covers about 100 hectares.
