History

Scacciadiavoli was founded in 1884 by Prince Ugo Boncompagni Ludovisi, who built a large, technically advanced multi-level gravity-flow winery in the hills around Montefalco; the name recalls a local exorcist said to use the wine in his rituals. In 1954 the Pambuffetti family of Foligno acquired the estate, now in its fourth generation, keeping it one of Montefalco's historic Sagrantino houses.
