History
Silvio's father Tommaso Messana bought Montesecondo in 1963 and planted vines in the early 1970s; his mother later sold the grapes to a négociant.
Silvio and his wife Catalina moved back in the mid-1990s and stayed on, bottling their first wine in 2000.
Organic from 2004 and farmed biodynamically, Silvio makes 'undressed' Chianti Classico from native grapes only.
