History
Avignonesi was founded in 1974 by Ettore Falvo and took the name of his in-laws, the Avignonesi family, whose Montepulciano vines he had bought. Belgian lawyer Virginie Saverys invested in 2007 and bought the estate outright in 2009, converting what had been a conventionally farmed property into the largest biodynamic estate in Tuscany. Alongside its Vino Nobile it is celebrated for one of Italy's most sought-after sweet wines, the Vin Santo di Montepulciano Occhio di Pernice.
