History
Cascina Chicco was established at Canale, in the Roero, in 1950, when Ernesto Faccenda — a butcher and cured-meat specialist — bought his first hectare of vineyard to grow Nebbiolo and Barbera. The winery is named for his nickname, 'Chicu'.
His son Federico, with his wife Maddalena, began bottling under the family name, and in the 1980s the third generation, Enrico and Marco, trained at the Alba oenological school, expanded into the top crus.
Today the brothers run the estate, known especially for its Roero Arneis and for Nebbiolo from the Valmaggiore cru.
