Enrico Gatti, from the building trade, founded the estate in 1975 in Erbusco with a single hectare.

From 1984 his children Lorenzo and Paola Gatti and Paola's husband Enzo Balzarini joined, releasing the first sparkling vintage in 1986.

The estate has grown to about 17 hectares of Franciacorta hillside.
