History
Cheo, named for a historic Vernazza family, was begun in 2004 by Bartolo Lercari and his Danish wife Lise Bertram, who reclaimed abandoned terraces above the village, brambled since decades of rural exodus. The Lercari have grown vines in Vernazza for centuries; from 27 steep terraces they make Cinque Terre whites and the traditional passito Sciacchetrà.
