History
The Astone family has farmed vines and olives near Cicerale for three generations; grandfather Gianni planted three of the family's five hectares in the 1970s to Sangiovese, Barbera and Trebbiano.
In 2013 grandson Angelo Astone replanted part of the old vineyard with Aglianico, Primitivo and Fiano, restored a 19th-century stone farmhouse, and built a new winery, producing wines including the Sangiovese-Barbera blend Gianni '53.
