Fragolina di Sciacca e Ribera
Sciacca and Ribera Wild Strawberry

The story is that these came home from the Great War: Sicilian soldiers dug wild plants out of some Alpine wood and put them in the ground here, where they took, acclimatised and became a local ecotype that spread through the Verdura valley. The berries are tiny, round, bright red and intensely scented.
