Cavolo Trunzo di Aci
Aci trunzu kohlrabi
A kohlrabi grown in the volcanic soil below Etna around Acireale, its bulb streaked violet, the colour the mineral-rich ground gives the vegetables grown in it. Until the late 1940s the Aci country supplied Catania with its fruit and vegetables, and this brassica was among the most sought after of them.
