History
La Carraia was founded in 1988 from a partnership between the Gialletti family, long-established Orvieto viticulturists, and the Cotarella family; the winemaking is led by Riccardo Cotarella.
The estate farms around eighty hectares in the heart of the Orvieto Classico zone, making its classic Orvieto and Sangiovese alongside the flagship 'Fobiano', a Merlot-Cabernet blend first produced in 1995 and aged in French barriques.
