History
Coralia Pignatelli, a princess of Greek aristocratic descent, and her husband bought Castell'in Villa in 1968 with a single hectare of vines; the first commercial vintage came in 1971. After her husband's death in 1985 she led the estate to legendary status, making austere, age-worthy Chianti Classico from 100% Sangiovese, including the cru Poggio delle Rose.
