History
Case Basse, founded by Gianfranco Soldera in 1972, made some of the most revered Sangiovese in the world. An uncompromising perfectionist, Soldera farmed his Montalcino vineyards with obsessive care and made ethereal, extraordinarily long-lived wines long regarded as the pinnacle of Brunello. After a dispute with the consortium his wines have been labelled Toscana IGT since the 2013 release, but they remain pure Montalcino Sangiovese of legendary status.
