Alessandro Viola
Appellations
History
Alessandro Viola farms around Alcamo, in the north-western corner of Sicily, and has become one of the island's recognised natural-wine names through a strict commitment to organic viticulture and minimal-intervention cellar work. His roughly 7 hectares are split between the clay, sea-cooled site of Pietra Rinosa near Alcamo and the higher-altitude Fastuchera.
Winemaking is non-interventionist: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, no fining or filtration, and little to no added sulfur, so the wines stay close to the grape and the site. The range is built on Sicilian natives — Grillo and Catarratto for the whites, Nero d'Avola (often with Syrah) for the reds.
Signature bottlings include the pure-Grillo 'Note di Bianco' and the Nero d'Avola / Syrah 'Note di Rosso', released across the Alcamo DOC and the broader Terre Siciliane IGT.
