History
Cantina di Santadi is a cooperative founded in 1960 in the Sulcis corner of southwest Sardinia. Its transformation began when Antonello Pilloni became president in 1976 and, from 1980, brought in Giacomo Tachis, the oenologist behind Sassicaia and Tignanello, to reinvent its wines. In 1988 the cooperative released the first Terre Brune (1984 vintage), Sardinia's first barrique-aged red and still its flagship, showing the heights old-vine Carignano of the Sulcis could reach.
