History
Proprietà Sperino helped lead the rebirth of Alto Piemonte. The Lessona estate, established in the 19th century by the eye surgeon Casimiro Sperino, had its last old vintage in 1952 before the De Marchi family, of Isole e Olena fame, revived it in 1999. Working the acidic sandy soils of Lessona, Paolo and Luca De Marchi coax a Burgundian finesse from Nebbiolo, and their Lessona is one of the benchmarks of the region's renaissance.
