History
Pio Cesare was founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio in the centre of Alba, on the town's ancient Roman walls, and has stayed in the family for five generations. Long a traditionalist reference for Barolo and Barbaresco, it made its first single-vineyard Barolo in 1985 from the Ornato in Serralunga d'Alba.
