History

Cantina Bartolo Mascarello is a shrine of traditional Barolo. Bartolo, who ran the family estate his father Giulio founded around 1918, was the fiercest defender of classic Barolo against the modernists, refusing barriques and blending his four great crus into one wine rather than bottling them separately, as tradition dictates. Long macerations, big Slavonian botti and no compromise define the house, carried on today by his daughter Maria Teresa.
