Malvasia Bianca di Candia

Also known as Malvasia rossa dei Castelli Romani.

A white grape registered in its own right in MASAF's national vine register (scheda 131), genetically and legally distinct from Malvasia Bianca Lunga (scheda 132) and Malvasia Istriana (scheda 138) despite the shared family name — Valdichiana Toscana's disciplinare explicitly lists all three side by side as separate varieties grouped under the umbrella term 'Malvasia bianca'.

Large, semi-loose, cylindrical-conical, often winged and pyramidal clusters; medium-sized round berries with thin but consistent golden-yellow skin, often showing brownish streaks. Pulp is loose with a simple to slightly aromatic flavor. Most typically found in the hilly Castelli Romani area of Lazio, but planted across many Italian regions.
