Inzolia

Also known as Ansonica, Insolia.

Inzolia, known as Ansonica on the Tuscan coast and Tyrrhenian islands and sometimes spelled Insolia, is a white grape long grown across Sicily, where it has been an important component of both Marsala and dry white blends. It is the same variety as the Ansonica of Tuscany's Maremma and Argentario.

It gives soft, medium-bodied whites with relatively low acidity, a slightly nutty character, and aromas of ripe orchard and citrus fruit with floral and almond notes. Often blended to add roundness and perfume, it is also bottled as a varietal, best enjoyed young while its fruit is fresh.
