Cesanese Comune
Also known as Cesanese di Comune, Cesanese Nostrano.
Cesanese Comune (Cesanese di Comune) is the larger-berried, more vigorous and productive of the two Cesanese biotypes grown in Lazio. It is more widely planted than the finer Cesanese di Affile because it is easier to cultivate and ripens more reliably, and it is frequently blended with di Affile in the region's Cesanese wines.
It gives soft, fruit-forward reds with medium body and gentle tannins, showing red cherry and floral notes. It is permitted alongside or in place of Cesanese di Affile in the Cesanese del Piglio, Cesanese di Olevano Romano and other Lazio reds.
