History

Tasca d'Almerita has farmed the Regaleali estate in central Sicily since 1830, when the Tasca brothers bought the land in the county of Sclafani. Long a benchmark for the island, it created Rosso del Conte, made from an old bush-trained planting of Perricone and Nero d'Avola established in 1959, whose 1970 vintage (first labelled Riserva del Conte) was the first single-vineyard wine ever produced in Sicily. Since 2001 the family has added estates across the island, from Etna to the Aeolian island of Salina.
