History
Francesco Siclari, his wife Heide and their son Sliman reached the abandoned country around Santa Margherita di Pula, on Sardinia's southern coast, in the early 1990s, determined to bring the vine back to a landscape that had fallen out of cultivation. The estate they built, Feudi della Medusa, was established at the end of the decade.
From roughly fifty hectares the family makes about 250,000 bottles a year, championing the island's native grapes – Vermentino, Cannonau and Carignano – and reviving less common varieties such as Cagnulari and Bovale. Most of the range is bottled under the island-wide Isola dei Nuraghi IGT, the flagship reds among them the Bordeaux-styled 'Ortro'.
