History
Cantina La Giara was founded at Usellus, in the Marmilla, in 1958, and has been an active cooperative ever since; its name recalls the Giara plateau of central Sardinia.
About sixty growers from Usellus and the surrounding villages — Baressa, Sardara, San Nicolo d'Arcidano, Villanovaforru and Collinas — bring around two thousand quintals of grapes to the co-op, which works the native varieties of the Marmilla, among them Monica, Nuragus, Bovale and Semidano.
