History
Michele Chiarlo founded his winery in 1956 at Calamandrana in the heart of Barbera d'Asti country, bottling his first cru Barolo in 1958. A pioneer of quality Piedmont wine abroad and of malolactic-aged Barbera (1974), he acquired the Cerequio and Cannubi Barolo crus in the late 1980s and helped win DOCG status for Nizza in 2014. His sons Stefano and Alberto now lead the estate.
