History
Cantine Silvestri traces its history to 1929, when Alfredo Silvestri, then a grower in the comune of Genzano, began making wine in the Castelli Romani south-east of Rome. The house passed down through the family and is run today from Lanuvio by his grandson, also called Alfredo, together with his wife Barbara.
From the volcanic Alban hills the winery makes still wines and spumanti across the local denominations – Colli Lanuvini, Castelli Romani, Colli Albani and the broader Roma DOC – as well as Lazio IGT, keeping the Castelli's white-wine tradition of Malvasia and Trebbiano alongside its reds.
