History

Umberto Cesari founded his winery in 1964 in the hills of Castel San Pietro Terme with a mission to raise Romagna's Sangiovese from a wine of quantity to one of quality. One of the first in Emilia-Romagna to believe in the grape's potential, he became known as a 'master of Sangiovese', and the estate helped put the region on the fine-wine map, exporting to dozens of countries. Its Liano, a Sangiovese-Cabernet blend, is among its best-known bottles.
