Around 110 hectares (about 70 under vine) at the San Castrese and Parco Nuovo estates in the ancient Ager Falernus around Cellole, planted to Aglianico, Piedirosso and Falanghina, plus a 25-hectare estate at Pietrafusa in Irpinia (acquired 2004).

History
Villa Matilde was founded in 1965 by Francesco Paolo Avallone, a scholar of Roman law who spent years researching how to revive Falernian, the wine praised by Ovid and Martial whose thread had been lost. Replanting native vines in the Ager Falernus around Cellole, he brought Falerno del Massico back to life. The estate is the reference producer of the appellation, best known for the Aglianico-Piedirosso red Vigna Camarato and the Falanghina Vigna Caracci.
