History
L'Acino was founded in 2006 at San Marco Argentano, in the hills of Cosenza, by three friends — Dino Briglio, Antonello Canonico and Emilio Di Cianni — determined to revive an almost-vanished Calabrian wine culture. They began with a single steep hectare of old Mantonico at about 650 metres on the edge of the Pollino, adding a plot of Magliocco the following year.
Canonico later left the partnership and the estate is carried on by co-founder Dino Briglio, who farms biodynamically and champions the region's native grapes. Its artisanal, native-variety bottlings such as 'Chora' and 'Toccomagliocco' have made L'Acino one of Calabria's reference natural-wine estates.
