Roveja di Civita di Cascia
Civita di Cascia Roveja

A small pea-like legume running from dark green through brown to grey. Some take it for an ancestor of the garden pea, others for a species in its own right, and its botany is still unsettled. It fed the shepherds and farmers of the Sibillini for centuries and has been nearly abandoned; only the Valnerina, around Cascia, still sows it.
