Cipolla Bianca di Fara Filiorum Petri
Fara Filiorum Petri White Onion

The town's name is Lombard, the land of the sons of Peter, and it stands at the edge of the Maiella park in the Foro valley, of which it is the main centre. The onion became part of what the place is and a real part of its economy, and is still feted on the first weekend of August. It is called piattona for its flat shape, and it is sweet and aromatic. The monks of the local Sant'Eufemia monastery were already growing an onion here in the 14th century.
