Agnello d'Alpago
Alpagota Lamb

The Alpago gives its name to a medium-small, thick-fleeced sheep whose hornless head and lower legs carry odd dark blotches. As with most native breeds the numbers collapsed over the last century; about 3,000 are farmed today, slightly up on the early 1990s, when the European Community listed it among local breeds at risk. It can give meat, milk and wool, but is now kept wild or half-wild almost entirely for the meat, which is very good.
