Riesling Renano

White grapeRhine valley, Germany
← Grapes

Also known as Riesling.

The Italian name for true (Rhine) Riesling — the same noble, high-acid German white variety documented in this dataset's generic riesling.json profile (planted in Piemonte's Langhe, among other places), called 'Riesling Renano' specifically to distinguish it from the unrelated Riesling Italico (Welschriesling). Bone-dry to lusciously sweet, with the variety's signature kerosene note developing with age.

In Toscana, appears as a mandatory-presence blend component (alongside 8 other white varieties) in Colli della Toscana Centrale's Bianco and Bianco frizzante typologies.
