Ansonica

Also known as Inzolia, Insolia.

A white Italian grape planted primarily in western Sicily, where it is called Inzolia (or Insolia) and used widely in Marsala and dry Sicilian whites. The same variety, called Ansonica, has a long-established presence on Tuscany's southern coast and islands, where it is the sole grape of the monovarietal DOC Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario (minimum 85%) and is also permitted in Elba, Val di Cornia, Parrina, Bianco di Pitigliano, and Maremma Toscana.

Noted for a nutty aroma. Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario's own disciplinare (Art. 6.1) describes the resulting wine as straw yellow (more or less intense) in color, with a characteristic, lightly fruity aroma and a dry, soft, lively, harmonious palate.
