History
Montecariano is a Valpolicella Classica estate in the hills of San Pietro in Cariano, carrying a family tradition that reaches back into the last century.
It is owned by Mariella Gini and run by her two sons, Marco and Matteo Galtarossa — Marco as winemaker in vineyard and cellar, Matteo on sales and communication.
The 27-hectare estate, on limestone and clay soils, makes about 30,000 bottles a year in a fresh, restrained style, including a Valpolicella Classico free of ripasso character and an Amarone with moderate alcohol and no new oak.
