History

The Monte del Frà site takes its name — 'mountain of the brothers' — from friars of the Santa Maria della Scala order who settled and made wine there in 1492. In 1958 Massimo Bonomo rented rooms and land, running a traditional frasca wine shop and farming mixed crops.

On 8 August 1988 his sons Eligio and Claudio turned the family holding entirely over to vineyards, founding the Monte del Frà wine estate.

The family expanded across Custoza, Valpolicella Classica, Lugana and Bardolino, and now farms about 200 hectares; the third generation — Marica, Silvia and Massimo — has joined.
