History
The Tessari family has made wine at its La Cappuccina estate at Costalunga di Monteforte d'Alpone, in the Soave zone, since 1890. The property is named for a tastefully restored 16th-century chapel, annexed to Villa Buri-Tessari, where Capuchin friars once worshipped — now the winery's logo.
The family has farmed organically since 1985, making La Cappuccina one of Italy's organic pioneers and a leading organic producer.
The fourth generation — Elena, Sisto and Pietro Tessari — works the Garganega vines among the black basaltic rocks, with San Brizio among the estate's vineyard sites.
