History
The Collalto family has held its lands on the Treviso hills since the Middle Ages - roots reach back to a 958 grant from King Berengar II - with the castles of Collalto and San Salvatore (the latter dating to 1245) as its symbols at Susegana.
Comparable to a great French château, Azienda Agricola Conte Collalto farms 150 hectares, the largest estate in the Conegliano Prosecco Superiore DOCG, and since 2007 has been led by Princess Isabella Collalto de Croÿ.
Working only estate-grown grapes for about 850,000 bottles - over half Prosecco Superiore - it also champions rarities like the Wildbacher red (introduced by Count Antonio Rambaldo in the 18th century), Verdiso and the Manzoni crosses developed in its own vineyards.
