History

Coffele was founded in 1971 when Giuseppe Coffele and his wife Giovanna Visco left teaching to revive Giovanna's family estate in Soave, a property with cellars in the walled village that had lain dormant for decades; the Visco family had farmed the land since the mid-19th century.

Their children Alberto and Chiara now run the estate from the historic centre of Soave, farming about 25 hectares in the Castelcerino hills. Alberto won his first Tre Bicchieri at 30 for the 2003 Soave Classico Ca' Visco, named for his mother's family.

The estate, which says it was the first in Soave Classico to be certified organic, makes Garganega-based Soave Classico and Recioto di Soave.
