History

The Cantina Beato Bartolomeo da Breganze was founded on 14 February 1950, when 121 growers of Breganze, Fara, Sarcedo and Mason joined to build a cooperative; it took the name of Blessed Bartholomew of Breganze, a thirteenth-century Dominican and bishop of Vicenza.

Today some 840 members farm around seven hundred hectares between the Astico and Brenta; working about fifty thousand quintals of grapes into some two million bottles a year, the co-op makes more than seventy per cent of all Breganze DOC and is known above all for its Vespaiolo and the sweet Torcolato.
