History

Kettmeir was founded in 1919 by Giuseppe Kettmeier, an oenologist and agronomic engineer, in the territory of Caldaro on Alto Adige's wine road.

The winery was an early mover into Metodo Classico sparkling wine production in Alto Adige, adopting the traditional method definitively from the 1990s onward; it is today part of the Santa Margherita Group and recently renovated its Caldaro estate, adding geothermal cellar cooling and photovoltaic power.
