History
The Augustinian monastery at Novacella (Neustift) was founded in 1142; by 1177 Pope Alexander III confirmed its vineyard holdings near the abbey.
It has made wine for over 880 years, one of Europe's oldest working monasteries.
Its cool-climate Valle Isarco whites, above all Kerner and Sylvaner, are benchmarks of Alto Adige.
