History
Villa Poggio Salvi sits on the south side of Montalcino, a spot celebrated for its wines since the 16th century and named for being a 'healthy hill'. When Pierluigi Tagliabue bought the run-down estate in 1979, it had only a couple of hectares of vineyard.
He restructured it into a 21-hectare estate of Sangiovese Grosso, adding vineyards in Chianti Colli Senesi from 1998.
Today it is run by Pierluigi Tagliabue with his grandson, the winemaker Luca Belingardi, making traditional wines with modern methods.
