History
Villa Petriolo gathers around a sixteenth-century villa near Cerreto Guidi, historically tied to the nearby Medici villa - a kiln on the property is said to have supplied bricks for Cosimo I's hunting lodge.
Abandoned for years, the estate was bought at auction in 2018 and revived as a 170-hectare organic farm with some 14 hectares of vineyard, producing twenty different agricultural products alongside wine and olive oil.
Its wines, organic from the 2020 vintage, are led by a Chianti DOCG and Chianti Riserva (Sangiovese with Colorino) alongside IGT reds like the Supertuscan 'Poggiarello' and 'Golpaja'.
