History
Torre a Cona is a 200-hectare estate at San Donato in Collina (Rignano sull'Arno), gathered around an eighteenth-century villa raised on the remains of a medieval castle of the Florentine Rinuccini family.
In 1935 it was bought by Napoleone Rossi di Montelera, of the Turin family behind Martini & Rossi, who chose Torre a Cona for his winemaking; red-wine production has continued unbroken ever since.
Today Napoleone's grandchildren - Ludovica, Leonardo and Niccolò - run the wine, farming and hospitality, making two Chianti Colli Fiorentini labels and a Merlot, and reviving the family's vermouth tradition.
