History
The Fanti family has owned its Montalcino land since the early 1800s. In the early 1970s Filippo Fanti took the lead and refocused the estate on high-quality wine, starting from the soils.
His first Brunello di Montalcino, from the 1980 vintage, marked the start of the modern estate; his 2001 Brunello was later ranked among the world's top wines.
Filippo Fanti works the vineyards and olive groves with his daughter Elisa across an estate of about 260 hectares, 55 of them vineyard.
