History
The Sanlorenzo name honours Lorenzo Ferretti, born in 1846 to a peasant family at Villa a Tolli above Sant'Antimo, who bought his first plot of land in the late 19th century. In 1950 Guido Ferretti's family established a farm and named it Sanlorenzo in memory of their grandfather.
After Fiorella married Paolo Ciolfi in 1972, the family planted vineyards (in 1972 and 1992) but sold the grapes to others.
In 1997 Luciano Ciolfi returned to focus on wine; the farm closed in 2000 and began operating as a winery, with the first vintage produced in 2003. Luciano Ciolfi owns the estate today.
